If you thought that Swachh Bharat mission was yet another macro
schemes launched by the new government in power
or worse still that it was just a marketing gimmick, then this newapps news will come as a huge surprise to you. Department of urban
development has recently announced that it is soon going to launch a swachh
bharat mobile app to assist the citizens in making their grievances heard
faster. With this advancement, the department of urban development, under the
leadership of our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, has shown their commitment
towards utilising the latest technology trends to achieve the goals as
well as create a collaborative and ownership driven approach.
What is Swachh City Solutions?
Swach City Solutions is a web as well as mobile based application
that the department of urban development is going to develop with the support
of Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship & Democracy. This app will be launched
in 4041 urban cities and towns. Citizens will be able to log a complaint regarding
the cleanliness related issues in their city with the help of this app.
The status of the complaint can be tracked within the application as
respective municipal bodies will have access to the complaints logged in with
the application. Citizens will also be able to view the complaints logged
around their location so that they can support the complaint if they feel the
same. This way community priority to address the complaint can be set.
Benefits of the Swach City Solutions
There are multiple benefits of using Swachh city solutions which is
the latest gadget news in the town. First of all the citizens are
empowered to log in a complaint through a process which is not at all tedious
and time consuming. The complaint can be logged on the go since it is a mobile
app. Hence the citizen adoption of this app is expected to be extremely high.
The municipal bodies can be easily tracked on the actions taken against each of
the complaints which makes this an extremely transparent solution. The closure
of the issues reported can be tracked centrally to collate a central
information system and analytics on kind of issues reported and effectiveness
of the action taken. In fact Department of Urban Development also plans to
organise competition between all 4041 cities in which this app will be launched
on the basis of the number of issues addressed through this app.
Why Janaagraha?
Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship & Democracy is no novice in
the field of addressing civic issues in the country with the support of latesttechnology trends. They have built and implemented a similar web and mobile
app called IChangeMyCity that is being successfully run. Citizens have provided
a tremendous response to this app by logging complaints relating to multiple
issues. In the city of Bangalore itself more than 200000 complaints have been
logged and support generated by other citizens to these complaints.
The Swachh City Solutions App is likely to be ready and working by
April 2016. Launching of this app with a partner who is likely to succeed in
scaling up their existing endeavour shows the commitment of the Department of
Urban development as well as the current government to make Swachh Bharat
mission a success in reality and not only as a talking point in their electoral
campaigns.
